By | October 22nd, 2015|Salt, Snow Removal|

According to the Salt Institute the United States applied roughly 17,000,000 tons of road salt during the winter of 2013-2014. Other reports say that more than 20,000,000 tons of salt are applied on our roadways every winter.

  • 158lbs of salt for every car or truck on the road in the US (there are 253 million)
  • ~15x more salt than is used each year by the entire US food processing industry (source)

By | October 19th, 2015|Labor|

The H-2B program is a government program that allows U.S. companies to bring in qualified employees to fill temporary or seasonal positions that they cannot fill with U.S. workers. There are many safeguards in place to protect the foreign workers as well as the employer’s U.S. workers. In April 2015, an Interim Final Rule was enacted by the Department of Labor that sets up increased protections for employees and increased responsibilities for […]

What can we expect from the winter of 2015?

By | October 10th, 2015|Snow Removal|

Recently everyone has been talking about the potential effects of a stronger El Nino weather system this winter. Some people, such as snow and ice management contractors, need to know what to expect in order to make important business decisions. Snow management employees would like to know how often they will be working this season. Other people are just curious how many times they’ll need to get out their snowblower to clear their driveway. With so many people asking the same question, it’s no wonder that so many weather organizations have claimed to […]
